What do I want from this new year? For Apple to announce a Mac Mini that can do 4k at 60fps.

Seriously, my Macbook pro is going to be 6 years old this year and I’m not too sure how much longer she’s going to be around. Come on Apple! You can do it! Just do it and my $1300 is yours for an i7 and 16gb version! Bonus points if they make it look like a small mac pro.

What kind of graphics hardware does it use?

If I remember, I thought they ran on AMD Firepro?

Build a PC with Skylake-i7, a GTX970... A few more bits and you’re there!

I just don’t really like windows. Also, the mac version of Capture One (my photo editing software) runs much better than the windows version. I just like the Mac OS. Also Mac has final cut.

My MBA is about 3 1/2 years or so. Still runs fine but I want to upgrade. Really wish it had more storage. Main reason being games are just so damn big these days.

I have an MBA that age. I got the i7 and upgraded RAM so it is still powerful enough but my 256GB is full (should’ve gone (512 which was the max back then but I was already at $1800 and couldn’t fathom $2k for an MBA). A semi-solution that I’m looking at is one of these JetDrive Lite SD cards that are shorter than normal so they sit flush with the side of the MBA like pseudo-permanent storage. Obviously it isn’t anywhere near as fast as an internal SSD but I’m thinking I could move less commonly used stuff off to it while I wait for a next-gen Air.

I’ve thought about picking one of those up, or one of those adapters for microSD cards that sit flush.

I'm working with 128 so I'm always moving things around when I wanna install something.

I’m not editing video or playing games on it! Lol i just want 4k because it will make photo editing much easier!

That’s not only true, it’s about the only reason now to have a really high-resolution screen. You basically get to look at 8MP ... never had that before.

New 4K iMacs are nice. But a Mac mini would be awesome, then I could hook it up dedicated to my 4K tv.

Have you considered just getting an iMac? The 5k iMac starts at $1700 and if you consider how much a 4k Mac Mini would cost plus a 4k screen that’s a deal.

Early 2011 MBP model reporting in. I heavily edit videos on mine and casually do photos because of my major, but so far it hasn’t reached rock bottom. The only problem I had was changing the SATA cable because it couldn’t read my drives anymore. Plus the charger (HEAVILY FLAWED) because it wears out in dues time. The only thing I’ve changed internally was my ram to 16gb and I’m hoping to switch to a 2TB SSD.
